Featuring Black Belt Jones & Crippled Masters
I mean, how can you lose, right? This had win-win written all over it.
First off...the menu:
Cheese Fondue with granny smith apples and sourdough bread
Cheese Platter (Australian parmesan, double cream gouda, stilton with apricots and ginger, drunken goat, goat cheddar, edam with black truffle)
Sushi Rolls
Tofu spring rolls
2 bottles of Liberte Cabernet, 1 bottle of Root Cabernet
Tofu Veggie spring rolls
...and now the movies:
First, we watched Crippled Masters (1979)
I can't tell you how highly we recommend this movie...it's so very wrong, it's right. We first heard of it on a show called "50 Worst Films Of All Time" and they were clearly on glue when they chose this movie. It was just non-stop action, badly over-dubbed heinous acting, and a dodgy plot. We were enchanted, LOL
Then we watched Black Belt Jones (1974)
awesome quote:
Pinky: Who the fuck hit me?
Black Belt Jones: Batman, muthafucka!
Black Belt Jones: Batman, muthafucka!
Yet another movie discovered from The 50 Worst Films of all time! This movie had mobsters, badass afros, kickass martial arts, and cheesetastic dialogue for days, and hey! Scatman Crothers (why not?) Hell, there's even a scene where Black Belt Jones and his ladyfriend Sydney kick ass and take names in a car wash with soap bubbles flying everywhere.
Both films were awesome sauce, but Crippled Masters was just incredible. I could watch that movie 50 times, and still be in awe of the amazing martial arts preformed by the real-life handicapped duo of Jackie Conn and Frankie Shum.
